Spanish Fork City Pool CLOSED!

Submitted by tiffany.manwaring on Tue, 05/23/2017 - 14:13

Hi Parents!

Spanish Fork City let us know the swimming pool did not pass inspection. Therefore, the students will not be swimming tomorrow. Spanish Fork City will give each student a voucher for a free swim day to use at a different time when the pool is open.  However, we did call the fire department, and they will be here to hook up their trucks to the fire hydrants at 11am. This will allow the students to still have a "water" day. They will eat their sack lunches outside like a picnic.  Since this is at the school, students can wear their swimsuits but are REQUIRED to wear shirts that cover the shoulders and shorts per district dress code policy. Boys are not allowed to have their shirts off. It is recommended to have your students bring a bag with an extra pair of clothes they can change into after the water activities. Please remember towels, sunscreen, etc. Please call the school if you have any questions at 801-798-4480. Sierra Bonita Elementary

Walk for Life

Sierra Bonita fifth-grade students had the opportunity to participate in the “Walk for Life” project designed by Spanish Fork City, the Spanish Fork/Salem Chamber, and American Legion. Over 1,200 students in 13 elementary schools were invited to the May 17 and 18 educational day. Students were educated at eight different stations where Veterans shared stories of their service.

The morning began with a patriotic Flag Ceremony. The students came prepared with a name of someone in their family who is or was a Veteran and walked for them. This special name was written on a “dog tag” and placed on the “Wall of Honor” with their service and a small memorial page. The day ended with a patriotic closing with the Retirement of the Colors.

Thank you to all the Veterans, past and present, for your service.
