Drop off/pick up zone procedures
Thank you for all you are doing to provide for the safety of students in our drop-off and pick up zones. We ask that if you have need to park your car, especially directly before school or after school, to please park in a parking stall and not in our drop off/pick up zone. As we work together in this regard, we will be able to provide for the safety of our students while keeping our drop off/pick up zone running smoothly. Please let me know if you have questions.

Boundary Maps & Open House
In order to accommodate rapid growth in the northern end of Nebo School District a boundary realignment is being considered in anticipation of the opening of two new elementary schools. Maple Ridge Elementary School, located in west Mapleton, will open in the fall of 2015, and Meadow Brook Elementary School, located in west Springville, is planned to open in the fall of 2016.

Nebo School District believes that parent input is an important part of the boundary realignment process. In order to help us finalize the new boundaries, we are seeking ideas, comments, and suggestions from patrons that might be affected by the realignment. Boundary adjustment options, information, and a comment form is posted on the district web site at www.nebo.edu.

Two Boundary Open Houses have been scheduled, and all are invited to attend. Maps will also be available at the Open Houses

  • December 17th 3-5pm @Sierra Bonita Elementary
  • January 7th 3-5pm @Cherry Creek Elementary

Christmas Needs Drive
The Student Council is holding a Christmas Needs Drive and will be collecting non-perishable food items and new socks from December 1 through the 12. If you would like to donate any food or socks, please have your child bring canned or non-perishable food items and socks to his/her classroom. The food donated will be collected in each classroom and then put on display by each grade level in the form of a creative sculpture. The more items a class collects, the better chance the grade has at winning a prize. After, the food will be donated to families in need in the community, and any extra food will be donated to the Food Coalition. The socks will be donated to The Christmas Box Non-Profit Organization.

PTA Wish Upon a Star
Each year, as the holidays approach, we like to do our “Wish upon a Star” activity. Please have your child look for the Christmas tree displayed on each teacher’s door. Your child may pick a star off their teacher’s tree of an item they would like to gift to their teacher to help their classroom through the rest of the school year.  Please remember, this is just an alternate for a gift for your child's teacher for Christmas and is not expected.  We will have the teacher “wishes” up until December 19th. You may bring your teacher wish back anytime during the month of December.    Thanks – Sierra Bonita PTA

Singing Around the Tree
We are happy to share the schedule for our annual Singing Around the Tree performances and assemblies that will take place during the month of December. Lost and Found
If your child has lost a jacket, coat, or any other item, we ask you to look through the Lost and Found bins as soon as possible. The Lost and Found bins are located in the hallway near the auditorium until Christmas break. All items that remain in the Lost and Found after December 19 will be donated to charity.

SEP Conferences
Our second SEP conferences will be held on Wednesday, January 14. SignUpGenius was used to schedule October and January conferences. For each appointment that is scheduled, you should receive a confirmation email from SignUpGenius the week of January 5. If you have any questions or concerns about SignUpGenius or about SEP Conferences, please call the school at 801-798-4480. An office staff member will be happy to assist you.

Temperature, Air Quality & Outside Activities
School personnel will monitor the weather, temperature, air quality, and surface conditions each day to determine whether or not to have outside, choice, or inside activities at recesses and other times.  The Department of Air Quality has a web page that provides the “current conditions” of air quality for Utah County. You can find this information at www.airquality.utah.gov. We will work to follow temperature and air quality guidelines that allow students to benefit from outdoor exercise when appropriate and to provide indoor protection when outdoor activities are not recommended for all students. We encourage parents to inform the school if their child is part of the sensitive group or should have limited outdoor activity when outside temperatures are cooler or the air quality is of a poorer quality.
