Dear Parents,
We thank you so much for all you do for our students and our school. We are overwhelmed by the outpouring of support for carnival fundraiser, even while the rain was coming down in buckets. We are so grateful to be a part of your family and children’s lives. We care for your children and appreciate all the happiness and joy they bring into this school each day. We extend an invitation to each parent and family member to come and participate in school events/activities, volunteer in classrooms, and to be part of our PTA. We thank you again for all that you do for students and staff members of Sierra Bonita Elementary!

Sincerely,
Mike Larsen

Students are welcome to wear their costumes to school on Friday, October 31st. We do ask that students not wear masks, gory costumes, or bring any kind of weapon with their costume.

Our Annual Halloween Costume Parade will begin at 1:30pm, and we invite all who would like to participate or watch the parade to come and enjoy this event. Chairs will be set up in the auditorium and in the hallways for all to enjoy.

Dressing for the Weather of the Day / Lost and Found
With colder weather approaching, I wanted to share information about weather and dressing for the weather of each day. We encourage all of our students to come to school dressed appropriately for the weather of that day. Please assist your children to wear appropriate cold weather clothing.
If possible, please place a name or family name in coats and jackets, so we can get a lost coat or jacket returned.

If your child has lost a jacket, coat, or any other item, please look through the Lost and Found bins located in the hallway near the auditorium. Thank you!

Bully Blockers
At Sierra Bonita, the “Bully Blocker” program will continue to be taught and implemented by Mike Lewis, our school counselor, and our staff. Students, working with Mr. Lewis have been able to sign a pledge to be a Bully Blocker.
The promise of a Bully Blocker is:
I will...

  • Stand up to Bullying
  • Never Bully
  • Be a Friend
We appreciate each student being a “Bully Blocker”.  If a student witnesses a bullying act taking place, directed at either himself/herself or another student, the student is to ask the individual bullying to, “please stop...” The student will then make sure the student is alright and extend care and friendship. We are proud of our students for being bully blockers and being kind and respectful to each other.

The third grade went hiking up to Whiting Campground.  They were able to stop and do activities along the way. Some of the activites included a scavenger hunt, looking at nature up close with a magnifying glass, measuring tree's, breaking the balance of force, and so many more fun activities. They enjoyed a well deserved lunch when they reached the top. It was a great field trip to kick off the year!!!!

Friday's "Rock"

Article and photo by Mrs. DeAnn Sanders

Friday afternoons rock in 4th grade! Every Friday from 2:40 until 3:10 the 4th graders gather to sing their hearts out. They sing popular songs from artists of today and classic rock from the 80's. The songs are carefully chosen for lyrics and meaning. You might be walking down the hall and hear "Eye of the Tiger" by Survivor or "Livin' on a Prayer" by Bon Jovi. Whatever the decade there is something for everyone and it brings a smile to all of their faces!
