Dear Parents,

In an effort to promote healthy choices for our students we are excited to inform you that Payson Canyon Half has partnered with our school for the Kids Marathon again this year.  This is our sixth year doing the kids marathon program.  Over the next four months your child will be running each week towards their goal of completing a marathon (26.2 miles).  This running will take place at school. Each child has set a goal to run 25 miles.  Then on Saturday, May 11 at 9am all student are invited to run the final 1.2 miles of our kid’s marathon in Payson.  Each teacher will keep a log of the 25 miles run prior to our concluding event on May 11th.

If you want your child to run in Payson for the final 1.2 miles, the parent will be responsible for registering you child/children and transportation to the event.  Go to https://www.raceentry.com/payson-canyon-half-5k-and-kids-marathon-/race-information or

www.raceentry.com

to register.  It is a $15 registration fee which covers a race shirt and finisher medal.  Prices increase on February 1, so register soon for the lowest cost.

The purpose of this event is to promote healthy lifestyles among out students. We want this to be a family event.  Parents are welcome and encouraged to run with their children over the next four months and at the final event in Payson.  Parents who wish to run the kids race with their child do not need to register for the event, unless they would like a finisher medal and race shirt.  Parents, older siblings and other relatives are able to register for the 5k also taking place on May 11th.  Please go to www.raceentry.com to register.

We are also looking for sponsors for our event.  You can sponsor a child by going to the website listed above.  If you would like to be a title sponsor and have your business logo on the race shirts, please email Bethany Brown.

Sierra Bonita Elementary has set a goal to have at least 250 participants at the final event in Payson on May 11.  The school with the most participants will receive a trophy.  As a school we are looking forward to this journey together!

Sincerely,

Bethany and Walter Brown
