Pumpkinland

On October 24, 2011 the Sierra Bonita Kindergarten students had the opportunity to visit Pumpkinland. While at Pumpkinland the students were able to see many different types of pumpkins, gourds, and squash. Some liked the white pumpkins or the funny green, bumpy squash and others preferred the traditional orange pumpkin. They were able to see all sizes of pumpkins growing in Farmer Grant’s pumpkin patch. Students also enjoyed a corn maze that had a secret room (some of them found it and some didn’t!). During our ti

The fourth grade students at Sierra Bonita Elementary had the opportunity to watch one of their peers perform in the Utah Valley Symphony. Amelia Bateman along with eleven other Utah County students performed a violin piece on Thursday, October 27. The Utah Valley Symphony put on a wonderful performance and getting to listen to one of Sierra Bonita's students perform was an amazing experience.

Sierra Bonita kicked off Red Ribbon Week with an assembly. With the help of their dogs, Officer Nixon and Officer Livingston, they presented on the dangers of drugs and talked about the resources available in our community to help stop drug crimes. The students were able to watch as the dogs tracked down a toy and they also got to see Mr. Larsen try to get away from the dogs. This was a great opportunity for the students to learn about staying drug free.

Maple Mountain football players recently visited Sierra Bonita Elementary. They were able to work with students in small group as well as in whole group settings. Some of the football players read stories and answered a lot of questions from very curious students. Others took part in reader's theaters and modeled great fluency. The football players wanted to set a good example and the students were very glad to receive a visit.

3rd Grade Otter Pops

The third graders at Sierra Bonita Elementary had the opportunity to sell Otter Pops during school. They wanted to go on a fantastic field trip snowshoeing-skiing but didn't have the money for it. To help raise money they purchased three large boxes of Otter Pops and each class took a turn selling them during lunch recess. The students would take money with their teachers’ help, snip the ends of the Otter Pops off, and even clean up the wrappers. They sold the Otter Pops for 8 days and they made close to $300.

School Carnival

Thank you to the families and community who supported our school carnival. Faculty, staff and PTA members feel the carnival was a huge success and that a great time was had by all.  Families were able to enjoy exciting inflatable rides and games with prizes.  The silent auction showed some fierce competition among bidders for some wonderful baskets put together by the PTA through donations by the parents of Sierra Bonita Elementary.  Thanks to everyone for their hard work.  We hope everyone had a fantastic experience!
