Teacher Idol

Submitted by janna.slye on

Competition was tight in this year’s Teacher Idol assembly.  Grade level teachers came together and showcased their musical talents in a friendly rivalry.  The judge panel included the notorious Captain James Hook, the narcissistic Evil Queen, Wonderland’s adventurous Alice, the thrill-seeking Kristoff, and Princess Anna of Arendelle.  Each judge brought their own unique insight to the competition.

Mr. Loreen's 6th Grade Play - "The Girl Who Was Different"

Submitted by tiffany.manwaring on

It is about a girl who is mistreated because she looks different than her peers.  She goes on a search to find someone more different than she is and discovers the importance of just being yourself.  Lots of laughs and a great message. These 6th grade students did a great job not only relaying the message, but acting it out as well. Nice work Mr. Loreen's class!

Arbor Day Celebration

Submitted by tiffany.manwaring on

The City of Spanish Fork invited Sierra Bonita Elementary to take part in Arbor Day Celebration. We had our 5th and 6th grade students take part in this event. We had a short program followed by our own amazing 5th grader, Camryn Payne, who sang a beautiful rendition of 'The Giving Tree' by the Plain White T's. The student then planted a few trees and we had a special visitor by the name of Smokey The Bear!!  Thank you Spanish Fork City for allowing us this fun opportunity for our students!

6th Grade 13 Mile Hike!

Submitted by tiffany.manwaring on

6th grade students were dropped off at Utah Lake to start their hike on the Provo River Trail. Most of them made it all the way to Bridal Veil Falls! Not too worry, if they were tired and couldn't go on, we had a bus following the entire time that they could get on. We stopped at mile 7.5, the Provo Wills Pit Stop, and had lunch. We are so proud of our 6th grade students for such a great accomplishment!

Mother's Day Project

Submitted by tiffany.manwaring on

On May 11th mothers all across the country were celebrated.  Miss Mathews' class made gifts for this special day.  Each student decorated a purse that contained student-made items to show their love for their moms.  A mother's purse would not be complete without a wallet, keys, coupons, and a card.  All items were made by the students.  Some even chose to add in a cell phone, band-aides, gum, receipts, etc.  We love our moms and hope they had a wonderful Mother's Day!
