Hello Sierra Bonita Parents!
Thank you for a wonderful school year! We set a new record with the greatest number of students in an elementary school in Nebo School District ending up with over 1000 students. I’m certain we also set a record in the number of acts of kindness and service students shared throughout the year with others.  Our school staff is so grateful for the remarkable opportunities we have had to share the many joys of learning with your families. Thank you for your tremendous support! We wish every student and family the very best as we conclude this school year!
Thank you!
Mike Larsen

Class Request Information for the 2015-2016 School Year
Sierra Bonita will continue the same process used last year regarding class requests and special considerations for next school year. Parents who would like to share a request (including AM/PM kindergarten) or other information with me regarding their child’s class placement for next year, are invited to come to the school’s front office during the request window of May 18-29 to receive and fill out a request form.

In order for a request to be accepted, it must be completed according to the guidelines on the form, have a secretary’s approval, and be received by a member of our office staff during the request window (May 18-29).

Forms will not be sent home. The gathered information/requests will be combined with other academic and school information as I work to balance classes according to range of student ability, behaviors, gender, and the number of students. If you have any questions, please visit with me (Mike Larsen) or a member of the school’s office staff.

Envision Utah Survey
Envision Utah is working with Governor Herbert to gather information from Utah citizens to help build a vision for Utah’s future. The method for gathering information is a survey titled Your Utah Your FutureThe goal is to have 50,000 participate, and schools have been invited to help get the word out. The survey is located at envisionutah.org. Your participation will assist our state and Sierra Bonita as our school will receive $1 for each adult that completes the survey and marks Sierra Bonita at the end of the survey.

It’s expected that it will take anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes to take the survey on how deeply you want to dive into any of the topics. By completing this survey your voice will be heard in shaping Utah’s future, and at the same time, you will be supporting Sierra Bonita Elementary. Thank you!

Boxtops Week
We invite all families to please send in your Boxtops. Our final collection for this year will take place during Boxtops Week to take place next week, May 4-8.  Thank you for all of your support for Boxtops! We will continue this program next year, so please continue to collect all throughout the summer.

PTA Family Movie Night
Please add our PTA Movie Night to your calendars. It’s scheduled for Friday May 8. Please arrive around 8:30pm. The movie will begin at 8:45pm.

End of Year Testing
Thank you for all the support you have provided and continue to provide your students as they complete End-of-Year Testing.

Last Day of School Information
The last day of school for 1st-6th grade students will be Friday, May 29th.  This will be a half day of school, and students will be dismissed at noon.  Lunch will be served on the last day beginning at 10:30am, and bussing will run as normal beginning at noon. The last day of kindergarten will be on Friday, May 22nd.

Lost and Found
We have a LARGE collection of lost and found items that have not been claimed by owners. We ask families to look through our lost and found bins before the end of the school year. The bins are located in the hallway near the auditorium. Items remaining at the school after May 29th will be donated to charity.

School Lunch
We appreciate efforts taken to keep a positive balance on all school lunch accounts. When accounts are nearing a zero balance, a red stamp is placed on the student’s hand by the lunch secretary to serve as a reminder to pay lunch money. If you have any questions about student accounts or other lunch questions, please call Glenett Ponis, our lunch secretary, at 798-4499.
