Kids Marathon - Partnering with Payson Canyon Half (1st-6th Grade)

Dear Parents,

In an effort to promote healthy choices for our students we are excited to inform you that Payson Canyon Half has partnered with our school for a kids marathon.  Over the next three and a half months your child will be running each week towards their goal of completing a marathon (26.2 miles).  This running will take place at school with your child’s teacher supervising the running. Each child has set a goal to run 25 miles.  Then on Saturday, May 12, at 10:00am all student are invited to run the final 1.2 miles of our kid’s marathon in Payson.  Each teacher will keep a log of the 25 miles run prior to our concluding event on May 12th. 

If you want your child to run in Payson for the final 1.2 miles the parent will be responsible for registering you child/children and transportation to the event.  Go to www.runpaysoncanyon.com to register.  It is a $15 registration fee which covers a race shirt and finisher medal.  By using code NEBO20 you will receive 20% off registration prices.  There is a scholarship program in place for students who wish to participate by are unable to pay the registration fee.

The purpose of this event is to promote healthy lifestyles among out students. We want this to be a family event.  Parents are welcome and encouraged to run with their children over the next four months and at the final event in Payson.  Parents who wish to run the kids race with their child do not need to register for the event, unless they would like a finisher medal and race shirt.  Parents, older siblings and other relatives are able to register for the 5k or half marathon also taking place on May 12th at a discounted rate.  Please go to www.runpaysoncanyon.com to register.  By using code NEBO20 you will receive 20% off registration prices.  Students who are unable to participate in our final event on May 12 will still run with their class during school.

Sierra Bonita Elementary has set a goal to have at least 250 participants at the final event in Payson on May 12.  The school with the most participants will receive a trophy.  As a school, we are looking forward to this journey together!
