WEBSITEThis week through the GAINS program (Growing Arts In Nebo Schools), students discovered new ways of learning through dance and movement.    .3rd grade had a whole unit on movement that involved migration, travels, and journeys.  After reading about the travels of "Oliver K. Woodman" students danced and moved in ways that reflected Oliver's journey.  Sequencing was used in their reading, writing, and dancing to emphasize its importance! . 4th grade danced about Utah's habitats.  They used low and curvy movement to reflect wetlands, medium and flat movement to represent deserts, and high and pointed movement to demonstrate forests.    .5th grade used dance and movement to demonstrate qualities of static and current electricity!  One holds its place and the other travels--do you know which is which?  Your 5th grader probably does!  .6th grade learned an authentic traditional Renaissance folk dance to accompany their fabulous Medieval Feast.  Students learned about some of the historical and cultural elements that accompanied dance during that time period.  .Picture caption:  5th graders hold electrons (noodles) and protons (balls) in balancing shapes to show that the atom currently has balance!  But look out, electricity is soon on it's way!.
