Dear Parents and Families of Sierra Bonita,
We thank you so much for all the support you offer our school, including our recent carnival fundraiser. We have already begun to use the money to arrange for arts experiences for students and to pay for the DARE shirts our fifth graders will receive later on this year. We are so grateful to be a part of your family’s and children’s lives. We care for your children and appreciate all the happiness and joy they bring into this school each day. We extend an invitation to each parent and family member to come and participate in school events/activities, volunteer in classrooms, and to be part of our PTA. We thank you again for all that you do for students and staff members of Sierra Bonita Elementary!
Sincerely,
Mike Larsen

Halloween Events & Costume Parade – October 30
Students are welcome to wear their costumes to school on Friday, October 30.  We do ask that students not wear masks, gory costumes, or bring any kind of weapon with their costume. Our Annual Halloween Costume Parade will begin at 1:30pm, and we invite all who would like to participate or watch the parade to come and enjoy this event. Chairs will be set up in the auditorium and in the hallways for all to enjoy.

Dressing for the Weather of the Day / Lost and Found
With colder weather approaching, I wanted to share information about weather and dressing for the weather of each day. We encourage all of our students to come to school dressed appropriately for the weather of that day. Please assist your children to wear appropriate cold weather clothing.
If possible, please place a name or family name in coats and jackets, so we can get a lost coat or jacket returned. If your child has lost a jacket, coat, or any other item, please look through the Lost and Found bins located in the hallway near the auditorium. Thank you!

Sierra Bonita PTA Events & Activities
Box Tops -Classes are enjoying some friendly “Box Tops” competition this week (September 28 – October 2). We invite families to please send in your Box Tops. We will have another Box Tops collection week the end of January. Thank you!

Reflections - Sierra Bonita PTA is taking part in the National PTA Reflections program again this year!
This program encourages students of all ages and abilities to explore and be involved in the arts. We
urge students to create and submit original works of art in the medium of their choice— dance
choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography and visual arts — reflecting on
a specific theme. There also is a special artist division option for students with disabilities to ensure that
all students have the opportunity to participate in the program. Students are recognized each year for
their artistic ingenuity to bring the theme to life in a way that is personal and meaningful. The theme this
year is "Let Your Imagination Fly." We invite you to encourage your students to participate by reflecting
on this theme, creating art, and submitting it on October 22nd to Room 38 at Sierra Bonita between
8:30 and 9:00 a.m. Please make sure you help your child follow all the general rules as well as the
specific rules for the category (or categories) they are entering. We look forward to seeing what our
amazing students come up with!

PTA Annual Fundraiser will be October 5-9. The PTA is trying something new this year and will be
asking for Direct Donations. 100% of the donations go back into Sierra Bonita and will provide
and allows us to continue to fund student activities, programs, teacher support items, school needs,
family activities, and much, much more! We will be having drawings for fun prizes for participation
and for different amounts of donations. Also an easy and effective way to double your contribution
is to see if your employer has a matching gift program to Non- Profit Organizations. We look forward as a
PTA Board and as families of Sierra Bonita to give back to our school.
