Thank you for your wonderful support for Sierra Bonita Elementary!

School will resume on Monday, January 4, 2016

SEP Conferences
Our second SEP conferences of the year will be held on Wednesday, January 13, 2016. SignUpGenius was used to schedule our October and the upcoming January conferences for Kindergarten through fourth grade students. We will be following the same schedule as we did in October. For each appointment that has been scheduled, you should receive a confirmation email from SignUpGenius.

As a reminder, our fifth and sixth grade SEP conferences will be held in the lunchroom. This will accommodate the need for parents to meet with their child’s homeroom teacher as well as their math teacher. Conferences for 5th & 6th will be on a first come, first serve basis.

If you have any questions or concerns about conferences or the schedule, please call the school at 801-798-4480. Our office staff will be happy to help however possible

Information about School Choirs – Mrs. Paice & Mrs. Staheli
We are excited to offer once again our school choir to all children 1st-6th grade. The Junior Choir is for 1st-3rd grade students and will be held on Wednesday mornings, from 8:15-8:50am, beginning on January 13. The Show Choir is for 4th-6th grade students and will be held on Thursday mornings from 8:00-8:50am, beginning January 14.

Choir registration forms will be available once we return to school next week. There is a fee of $15 for everyone who would like to participate in this second round of choir, payable to the office. If this fee is a concern for your family, please visit with Mr. Larsen to work out a plan. We want every child who would like to join the choir to come and experience the joy of singing.

January 15 – District Development Day
There will be no school on Friday, January 15, as it is a District Development Day.

School Spelling Bee
Spelling bee lists were sent home just prior to Christmas break for all 3rd – 6th grade students. We encourage all students to participate by studying the words and participating in their upcoming class spelling bee. The two top spellers from each class will participate in our school third grade spelling bee or our fourth–sixth grade spelling bee. The third grade school spelling bee will be held on Friday, January 29, 2016. Our fourth – sixth grade spelling bee will take place onFriday, February 5, 2016.

Student Council Food Drive
Thank you for all of your generous donations to our Student Council Food Drive. The food drive was very successful, and your generous donations assisted many Sierra Bonita families and others throughout the community.

Sierra Bonita School Musical
Sierra Bonita is proud to present this year’s Musical, Disney’s The Little Mermaid! Evening performances will take place on March 24-25. If you have questions about the musical, please contact Kristin Jenkins, second grade teacher and play director.

Temperature, Air Quality & Outside Activities
School personnel will monitor the weather, temperature, and air quality each day to determine whether or not to have outside, choice, or inside activities.  The Department of Air Quality has a web page that provides the “current conditions” of air quality for Utah County. You can find this information at www.airquality.utah.gov. We will work to follow temperature and air quality guidelines that allow students to benefit from outdoor exercise when appropriate and to provide indoor protection when outdoor activities are not recommended for all students.
