Tomorrow's #UtahStrong flyover serves as a salute to all the frontline #COVID19 responders, as well as everyone out there working to #flattenthecurve.

It will be our the U.S Air Force's honor to fly over #Utah in a small show of their appreciation and solidarity.

Please note that the times and route are subject to change without warning. They HIGHLY encourage that everyone observe the flyover from the safety of your homes and refrain from traveling to see it. Social Distancing should be practiced at all times.

If you get any photos or videos of the flyover, be sure to tag them @F35DemoTeam on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram so that they can share them!

Terrific Kids Awards!

Submitted by tiffany.manwaring on Mon, 04/27/2020 - 14:24

Congratulations to the following students for being recognized as our "Terrific Kids"! These students were selected by our school to receive a Kiwanis "Teriffic Kids" Award given by the Spanish Fork Kiwanis Club. Each year the Kiwanis Club recognizes outstanding 6th grade students from elementary schools in Spanish Fork and Salem for their contribution to the school and community. Their criteria for a Terrific Kid is one who is: Thoughtful, Enthusiastic, Respectful, Responsible, Inclusive, Friendly, Inquisitive, and Capable; hence, TERRIFIC.

We would normally have a special awards program to which the honorees and their parents would be invited. Unfortunately, this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this program will not be held because schools are closed. The Kiwanis club has printed certificates for each child which has been delivered to our school and Ms. Cope, 6th grade teacher, will be contacting you to figure out a way to get them to these students.

These winning students names will be engraved on a plaque that hangs in the front office of the school. This year, the Kiwanis club is honoring a total of 92 Terrific Kids in the Spanish Fork and Salem area.

Congratulations again to you and your child who is receving this award. We know that Terrific Kids come from families where the parents are involved in their children's education and in helping them set goals and achieve their potential. We hope that your child will continue to demonstrate excellence in all they do!

Nebo School District

April 15, 2020

Dear Parents/Guardians:

As you may have heard, Governor Herbert and State Superintendent Sydnee Dickson have extended the “soft school closure” until the end of the school year.  Although we are disappointed that we will not be able to work with students in our usual manner, we understand why the decision was made and fully support them.  That being said, we now will need to address a variety of very unique situations.

Our hearts go out to the Senior Class of 2020.  The senior year is a very important part of the K-12 school experience.  Please know that we are exploring ways that we can address issues specific to 12th grade students such as graduation, yearbook signing, grading, credit, etc.   Any suggestions or ideas from parents and students should be sent to their school administration.  You will be receiving more detailed information regarding those events as details are finalized.

There have been questions asked about possible changes to the lunches being served and the current school year calendar.  Please be aware that we will follow the 2019-2020 school year calendar as posted.  The last day of school will be May 22.  Lunches will continue to be served at locations throughout the district.

The goal of Nebo School District and local schools is to continue to provide your student with a quality education through an online curriculum.  Teachers will continue to provide online learning experiences and will be communicating through email or other online platforms throughout the remainder of the school year.  Although these learning conditions are not ideal, we are extremely appreciative of the efforts made by teachers, parents, and students to adjust to this temporary method of instruction.

If you or your student are experiencing difficulties adapting to online learning or are in need of assistance, please reach out to your student’s teacher, counselor, or principal.  There are many resources available for those in need.

Nebo School District and your local schools will continue to communicate with you as we find solutions to the variety of challenges that are being sent our way.  We would like to thank you for your patience and support as we continue to navigate this challenging situation.  We truly believe that by working together, we will be able to successfully complete this school year.

Scott Wilson

Assistant Superintendent

Library Books Due - May 1st (or sooner if you can)

Kris Robison

Hello Awesome students and parents, we hope you are doing well.  We are looking forward to seeing you again soon.  We miss you all so much.

Every year we like to have all library books returned by May 1st so that we can do our inventory.  This year is not different.  We would like to encourage you all to return your regular library books and take home library books if you have them.  There will be a bin between the front doors of the school that you can drop them in.  This bin is there now and will be there each school day between 8-3.

We encourage you to return them as soon as possible.  Please be aware of others around you and practice social distancing. We can tell it's the book you have just by scanning the barcode, no need to label them or to come into the school.  If you are not sure if your child has books checked out please feel free to email or call either of us and we can let you know what your child/children have checked out.

We have tried to go through desks in classrooms and gather as many as we could see and check those books in.  We will run overdue notices/fines on April 22 and send those out via email.

We can't wait to see you again on May 1st!  Until then stay safe and well.

Mrs. Robison
