Sierra Bonita Scores a Perfect 100 by Energy Star!

Recently our district applied to earn the Energy Star Certification. We sent in Energy Star applications for 44 of our facilities and ALL 44 qualified. This is an amazing feat because in order to qualify a building must score in the top 75 percentile compared against other schools in the nation. Our district average score was 99, with many schools scoring a perfect 100. Sierra Bonita was one of the schools who scored a perfect 100!!

The certification process for Energy Star is not an easy one. Air quality, lighting quality, and the overall Energy Use Index readings and calculations of each facility are taken into account. This data, along with many other data points, are used to compare our K-12 facility to other K-12 facilities throughout the country. We then receive a score based on the grading criteria outlined by Energy Star.

Penny Wars!

This week, we will be participating in Penny Wars. Here's how it works:

Each grade will be competing to earn the most money by the end of the week. They can ADD to their total value by adding pennies and dollar bills (any amount) into their grade's bucket. They can SUBTRACT from another grade's total value by adding any kind of silver coin into their bucket. This is a great opportunity to get rid of all that loose change!  The money raised will be used as a college scholarship for a Sierra Bonita alumni that will be graduating from Maple Mountain High School this year.

Praise Notes 4-13-2018

Tiffany Manwaring

Every Friday, "Praise Notes" are read during morning announcements. These students are called to the office and get thier picture taken. Students can earn a "Praise Note" by being caught doing kind things throughout the school and classrooms.

Sierra Bonita Show Choir will perform at MMHS Music at the Mountain

by: Amy Staheli and Marilyn Paice

Attention for Show Choir Parents

We have been invited to sing at Maple Mountain High School’s Music at the Mountain, April 11, at 7:00 P.M. In order to be ready for this, I would like to have some additional choir practices for JUST the Show Choir kids.

One more practice tomorrow, Wednesday, April 11th, at 8:30 a.m., so we can make sure we have everything ready for that night.

The kids will need to wear Hawaiian/Tropical/ bright clothing, Flip flops/sandals, sunglasses, beach towels, etc. Don’t go and buy anything. Just have the kids let me know if they need to borrow some of my things for that night.

Our call time to do our number on the stage is at 5:45I would like all of the kids there around 5:30 to be ready to go on stage. We will then leave the stage and have an hour before the performance. The kids can bring a snack to eat after our practice.

We are the opening number for the program. This is a wonderful concert for the kids to listen to.  Encourage them to stay for the whole program. However, I do understand that a lot is going on that day.  If you need to leave after that, please let me know when you pick up your child. We will be sitting in an assigned area.

Thank you so much for allowing us to work with your children in choir year. We love it, and we hope it shows!

Thanks for all of your support!

Marilyn Paice and Amy Staheli
