Getting Ready for 100th Day Muesum Walk.JPG

On January 27, the First Grade celebrated the 100th day of school!  The kids wrote 100 words they knew, wrote their numbers to 100, and even licked a lolly-pop 100 times.  Students brought a bag of 100 small items that they counted and displayed on their desks.  The first graders then were able to go on a 'museum walk' around all the first grade classrooms.  We have had 100 wonderful days of first grade and can't wait for more!

Second grade students at Sierra Bonita Elementary rang in the holidays by performing two holiday songs for the entire student body.  The second grade students rehearsed weekly for a month and gave an amazing performance.

It Pays to Read 2.JPG

The students at Sierra Bonita Elementary enjoyed celebrating their reading achievements in a school wide "It Pays to Read" assembly just prior to Christmas break. All students who participated in our It Pays to Read program received a packet of restaurant coupons and a movie pass to Water Gardens Spanish 8 Theater. In addition, students' names were entered into a drawing (one ticket for each week the reading goal was met) for hundreds of books and bigger prizes. Students and staff members especially had fun with our "It Pays to Read Shootout" where students worked with staff members to make baskets, which then turned into cash! We look forward to our next "It Pays to Read" Assembly in May.
